Cough and other respiratory problems disappear for 2 weeks after stopping smoking, scientists have found the University of Texas.
The outcome research team observed a group of 327 students aged between 18 and 24 who have smoked for at least one to five years with outstanding problems of the respiratory system, coughing, wheezing, etc.. Young people have shared that burn between 5-10 cigarettes per day. For the purposes of scientific observations, half of them were persuaded to quit smoking for 2 weeks.
For this period, physicians observed a gradual improvement of the status of ex-smokers. Is reported to improve overall physical condition, cough, and self-esteem.
According to the heads of research Karen Calabro and Alexander Prokhorov their findings can serve as therapists in smoking cessation. Two weeks is a short time, which could motivate young people to quit smoking for the sake of a better image without cough among others.
The report is published in the journal Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, and Pulmonology.
